MA IT Recycling
Recycler information changes. Know of an update or a missing certified recycler? Email hello@gatedragon.com with subject "MA Recycling Directory Update" — we'll verify and update promptly.

⚠ Verify before you recycle

Certifications expire and recyclers change. Before dropping off or scheduling pickup, confirm the recycler's current certification status at R2 Certified Facilities or e-Stewards Find a Recycler. For data destruction, request a Certificate of Destruction in advance.

What do certification standards mean?

  • R2v3 — Responsible Recycling standard. Covers environmental, worker safety, and data security practices. The most widely held certification.
  • e-Stewards — Basel Action Network standard. Stricter than R2 on export restrictions and environmental protections.
  • NAID AAA — National Association for Information Destruction. Specifically certifies data destruction practices. Auditors in regulated industries often look for this alongside R2.
  • ISO 14001 — Environmental management system certification. Indicates systematic approach to environmental compliance.

Need a data destruction policy, not just a recycler?

For regulated businesses, documenting your IT disposal process is as important as the disposal itself. A vCISO can help you build a Written Information Security Program (WISP) that satisfies Massachusetts, HIPAA, and SOX auditors.
